SDEV400-Homework 0-Entering your AWS Classroom through your AWS Educate Account Solved

In this exercise, you will login to your AWS Educate account and explore your classroom.  Prerequisites:

1.      You should have already created your AWS Educate Started account before completing this exercise. (See AWSEducateStarterAccount.pdf)

2.      You should have also received an email inviting you to join an AWS Educate Classroom. The email will look similar to the one shown in figure 1 but will have slightly different classroom titles and details.

Entering your AWS Educate Classroom:

As shown in figure 2, to enter your AWS Educate Classroom, go to the following URL and enter your AWS Educate credentials and click on “SIGN-IN”: https://www.awseducate.com/signin/SiteLogin

Your credentials will include your UMUC student email account (e.g. yourname@student.umuc.edu) and the password you configured for your AWS educate account. Note, you should always enter your AWS classroom through the login above. This way, you will be able to find and navigate to the classes you are enrolled.

If this is the first time you have entered the classroom, you may see a status button labeled “Accept Invitation” as shown in figure 6.  If this is the case, accept the invitation and then accept the terms and conditions. Note you may have more than one classroom listed depending upon how many AWS Classrooms you have been invited.

Note there might be several conditions and terms to accept. Although a bit annoying, you will need to accept all of these to continue. Once complete, your classroom status will update to “Go to classroom” as shown in figure 7. Click the “Go to classroom” link to continue.

You may be prompted to accept additional conditions to proceed.

A screen similar to the one shown in figure 8 will be displayed once you have successfully entered the AWS Educate classroom.

To enter AWS click on the “AWS Console” link highlighted in figure 8. You can also view session, credit and account details as needed. Sessions are typically 3 hours so be careful to watch the session limit as you may need to login again if the time exceeds the session window.

Figure 9 shows the results of clicking the “AWS Console” link. Most of your services are set-up through the AWS console. Additional directions will be provided for your LEO classroom to guide you through setting up the AWS services needed for your specific course.

After you start using the AWS services, the credits you were given for this class will slowly begin to decrease. Each time you login to your classroom you can observe the “Remaining Credits” shown in the classroom credits (see figure 8).  The credits requested for each class are sufficient to complete the course you are enrolled. However; it is a best practice to review your account status regularly to better understand the cloud cost model for the services you will be using.
